Below we have listed a selection of larger plants - generally 1 gallon* and up - available for local pick-up (by appointment please) or delivery. Here's how it works. Picking Up Your Order Please e-mail us at mail@desertnorthwest.com to schedule an appointment to pick up the plants of your choosing. If you like, you may fill out and send in an Order Form, and pay for them in advance, and we will hold your plants from the time we get your payment. Alternatively, you may e-mail us with a list of plants you would like, and pay for them when you come to pick them up, if you prefer. We'll hold plants unpaid for up to two weeks if you can convince us you're really hell-bent on coming. If you fill out an Order Form, don't forget to check the space that says "pick-up", and to add sales tax (unless you reside out of state), but not shipping charges, into your total. And, of course, you can always visit the nursery by appointment to shop without having sent us an order form. Plant Deliveries For larger orders, plants can be delivered by us to your doorstep. For this service we request that you fill out an Order Form and make payment in advance. Please check the space that says "delivery" on your order form, and add sales tax (unless you reside out of state), but not shipping charges, into your total. Please also include the delivery fee, if applicable (there is no charge for local deliveries if a minimum order is met - see below). We deliver plants according to the following price schedule:
Are these plants available for mail-order? Some of the 1 gallon* plants are, but not all. Generally we will add to our mail-order list those that are not too tall, heavy, or otherwise awkward to ship. However, the price is different: the pick-up or delivery price for 1 gallon plants is always $4 less than the mail-order price. All 1 gallon plants available for mail-order can be found at the bottom of the Mail-Order Price List with their mail-order prices, and are now also incorporated into the Descriptive Catalog.** Plants larger than 1 gallon are available for pick-up or delivery only. Shipping plants this size creates some minor additional costs to us: their weight often adds disproportionately to the cost of shipping relative to the small plants, and they often take more time to pack. Also, we simply wish to incentivize customers who are able to do so to make use of our delivery service or pick them up. Still, we thought it would be better to make these plants available than not, in instances where 1 gallon is the smallest size available. Are the smaller plants from the mail-order catalog/list available for delivery/pick-up? Yes! Pick-up and delivery are also available for all plants in the Mail-Order Catalog, according to the same specifications and price schedule as listed above. In some cases this may be a less expensive option than shipping, for local customers interested in a large number of plants. Plants from this list and the mail-order catalog may also be combined in your order for delivery or pick-up. Any questions? We're happy to clarify anything written here. *Note on pot sizes: We're going by vernacular usage when using
terms such as "1 gallon", "2 gallon", "1 gallon square", etc. The pot sizes
are actually somewhat smaller than a true gallon, 2 true gallons, etc.
**The usual shipping charge is still calculated as an additional
charge, based on the mail-order prices, at the rates listed in the
Terms of Sale
and on the Order Form.
